Is it possible to stay in a resort before or after my yacht charter?
Staying at different accommodation has been titled as ‘Split-Stays’. On the whole, yes. There are no government restrictions for day-visits to resorts on different islands, as long as the islands are free from coronavirus and they are not being monitored for Covid-19 outbreaks. It is recommended, however, to get permission from each resort you are intending to visit, as many resorts allow guests on a case by case basis.
Can I charter a yacht for one day if I am staying in a resort?
Just as you can visit an island resort for the day from a yacht, you are allowed to charter a yacht for day charters from your resort. As you would expect, it is important to inform the resort you are staying in. Overnight stays are also permitted but require approval from the Ministry of Tourism, and requests should be submitted at least 48 hours in advance.
Am I allowed onshore to go shopping in Malé / visit different sandbanks during a charter?
Unfortunately, shopping trips in Malé cannot be done directly from the yacht. You are, however, permitted to shop in Malé if you are staying in a hotel, which can be organised before or after your yacht charter.
Visiting different sandbanks and atolls from a charter yacht is permitted and remains a key and exciting element to a Maldivian yacht charter itinerary.
