Yacht crew lifestyle: what it’s like onboard

As more yachts are being built so is the requirement for more yacht crews, the average number of crew required for a very large yacht can be 30 or more, which means lots of job openings. The two basic certifications that both the captain and crew must strive to acquire in order to be accepted to work on a yacht are Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) which encompasses first aid training, firefighting, and prevention training amongst others. The other is the Seafarers Medical Certificate to show that your health level is strong enough to work and travel on board.

Now the life on board; while crew members have a slightly different experience than the guests, they still get to enjoy the benefits as well. When not working or serving the guests, you get to see amazing sights on board and offshore as well. You get to meet people who you may end up creating lifelong friendships with, and we all know the saying, friendship is the wine of life – Edward Young.
